Very Satisfied With My Move & Choice of Movers
GPS Moving & Storage was wonderful to work with. They made sure I understood the process before I ever had to sign a contract or give them any money. Tammy was very informative & gave me critical information that I could use when interviewing other companies for my move. After I chose GPS, the process went smoothly & everyone was so professional & eager to make my move effortlessly for me. I had original thought I was going to pack my belongings myself & have GPS just do the loading & move. However my circumstances changed & I called to ask that they do everything & they did. I didn't have to lift a finger! The team who came to my house the day of the move got to work immediately & took very few breaks, completing the job in one day even though I had a lot of property. On the delivery end; the load arrived safely and the team who moved me into my new residence worked hard and set everything up exactly to my liking. Both teams were excellent to work with and I would recommend their company to all my friends and family.

Since I had never made a move across the country I was really worried how the move would be. I had heard a lot of horrer stories of people having a hard time with the movers they seleced. Before I start this, let me explain who I am: I do NOT work for GPS -I'm a military officer who just completed a cross-country move from San Diego to Norfolk. After reviewing 8 different companies, I found the following link on movingscams about the company (http://www.movingscam....). I was SERIOUSLY impressed with how passionately yet calmly "Tammy" defended her company. As a result, I started a dialog.
As was discussed in the thread on moving scams, GPS operates with two options for determining payment: by weight or by space. Now depending on how much stuff you have (especially if you have things that are a lot heavier than they look), you might want to go for their standard space/area. They will evaluate your place, and use their standard rate.
Personally, I know about how much my belongings weigh, so when my rep Avi gave me the quote based on space, I asked that the move be made based on weight. Because GPS normally uses space, Avi reminded me that if I used the space quote, no matter how much it actually weighed, the price would be the same. Avi estimated (using space) that I had approximately 10k lbs, but I KNEW I had no greater than 7500 lbs. As a result, I told Avi I want the move done by weight.
The day of the move there was a misunderstanding: the truck needed weighed and the plan was to weigh it in Miramar. The misunderstanding came up when I was waiting at the scales -it seems the plan was for me to open my apartment up to the movers (I live alone) and then go with the company to weigh the truck (total round trip 75 minutes). This wasn't acceptable to me, since I wouldn't have a trusted agent there to watch over my things in my absence. This was eventually resolved, but that definitely started the day off a little rough. The rest of the day proceeded without incident, and the guys did a good job packing up my apartment.
Yes, I listed a lot of negatives/criticisms just now, but let me say that these guys are professional, competent or worthy of a chance. I WOULD recommend these guys. –
